#2 - Famous Landmarks

There are a lot of amazing sites to see in Google Earth that don't require overlays or network links or any of that stuff - just raw Google Earth. Here are some of the best looking famous sites to check out:

Hoover Dam
(download)
Completed in 1936, the Hoover Dam is a massive structure. Google Earth doesn't render it perfectly, but it still looks awesome tucked between the mountains. Be warned - it can take a while to load.

The Grand Canyon (download)
Another classic site in Google Earth is the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Like the Hoover Dam, it can take a while to load the detail but it looks amazing.

Mount Everest (download)
The largest mountain on the planet. Enough said.

Ayers Rock (download)
Also known as Uluru, it is a large sandstone rock formation in central Australia.

If you're wanting to explore more sites like these, I suggest you check out our Craters, Mountains/Volcanos or Other Natural Formations categories.
